Prison Reform

Prison life is unpleasant and dangerous because prisons are populated by corrupt guards, violent criminals, gangs, and sexual perverts of every stripe. On top of that, prisoners are bored, restless and sex starved. Under these circumstances, just how livable can a prison be? Most inmates receive three meals a day, access to television, exercise equipment, recreational space, in-house prison jobs, library use, and health care. There are people who are not in prison who get less than this. What are the prison reformers going for--paradise? Here's an idea, if you don't want to experience prison, obey the law. A lot of people manage to get through their entire lives without committing crimes that call for prison time. If prison life becomes as good or better that life outside the walls, what will deter people from committing crime to get into prison? Have we forgotten that criminals should be punished for the damage they do to society?

  1. I can't help feeling a bit cranky- I'm in pretty rotten health... I can't afford health insurance for myself, but as a taxpayer, I'm paying for health care for all kinds of criminals!

If I have another heart attack, what am I gonna do? No, I am NOT feeling sorry for myself... well, maybe just a little wee teensy bit.
