The oldest bank robber in U.S. history is J.L. Hunter Rountree who robbed a bank in Abilene, Texas on August 12, 2003 at the age of 92. Following his guilty plea a few months later, the federal judge sentenced Rountree to 12 years in prison. Mr. Rountree committed his first bank robbery in 1998 at the age of 86. The authorities arrested him shortly thereafter. He pleaded guilty in return for three years of probation. Rountree died in October 2004 while serving his time at the federal prison in Springfield, Missouri. Mr. Rountree was born and raised in Brownwood, Texas.
