The Drugs Americans Overdose On

     On December 12, 2018, the U. S. Centers for Disease Control (CDC), in its "National Vital Statistics Report," revealed that over the past several years, an average of 50,000 Americans die from drug overdoses each year. In 2017, 70,000 Americans died of drug overdose.

     According to the new CDC report, the drugs most often listed on death certificates of people who overdosed are fentanyl, heroin, hydrocodine (Vicodin), methadone, morphine, oxycodone (OxyContin), alprazolam (Xanax), diazepam (Valium), cocaine, and methamphetamine.
