I Want to Be a Novelist When I Grow Up

If you're a kid who hopes to become a professional novelist, keep that dream to yourself. No one wants to hear it, especially your parents who want you to grow up and get yourself a regular, good-paying job. No parent in his or her right mind goes around bragging that Johnny is going to be a novelist when he grows up.

  1. And even if you make it, your fame might only be temporary. Vicki Baum won the nobel prize for literature way back. I don't rememember her either.

  3. It's like show business. So many talented people in the world but not all are chosen for fame and fortune. Some great artists who created masterpieces died as paupers, yet their works are priceless today. It's life, fate, luck or whatever that brings us out to be noticed by the world.
