I see no contradiction there.<br />Also, a pro would not shoot just once, or even try to stage a burglary. If you are emotionally detached to the target, you might as well empty your clip. Eric couldn't do that though. He couldn't even move himself to use a larger caliber. If I want to kill someone for sure, I would never use a 22, let alone one round.<br />To me the note was the last nail in the coffin. So you fake a note because they are after your son? If you know he is innocent, just let the police investigate! Also the note came less than a week after the investigation started. Eric simply panicked.<br />Oh yes, and he wasn't on the CCTV of that first Shopko. Bummer.
